The Gbm Foundation for Epilepsy & Mental Wellbeing
The Gbm Foundation’s mission is to Contribute to research, and the fight against taboo, stigma, unawareness, rejection and outright abuse of persons living with epilepsy and the mentally challenged in our society; guided by empathy, respect, inclusiveness and justice for the vulnerable and persons with disabilities.
The Gbm Foundation’s main objectives are:
To Carry out sensitization and awareness campaigns involving all vital stakeholders;
To Advocate for policy enhancement in favor of improved, healthier and more humane health management of epileptics and the mentally ill by caregivers and prescriber that give and empower the family to take increased role and involvement;
The Gbm-em Foundation has progressively since its creation, intensified its media advocacy towards sensitization and mobilization of the population to the cause of persons living with epilepsy and mental illness. The Programme and Country Directors have each on their part, been guests both on various radio and TV shows to talk about the Foundation and the different illnesses of interest to our work. Other advocacy is continually carried out through social and print media.
The Gbm Foundation for Epilepsy and Mental Wellbeing is honoured to have various partners in the realization of its objectives. It recently organized an enlarged Medical Mission to Lebialem led by CNN Hero Dr Goerges Bwellé and his medical team of experts - Ascovime. Other partners include the MHA General Hospital Fontem, the traditional authorities and key government services.
